How DVD Rental Clubs Work

Online rent-by-mail clubs are companies that rent out DVD's. You can easily search through thousands of titles and select your rentals by simply clicking on the 'Rent It' button.

Your DVD's will be added to your rental queue or "wish list". Your rental list is processed several times a day, and will immediately ship the items in your queue to you as soon as a returned movie arrives.

You will usually receive an email confirming your order and an additional email confirming the exact shipping time.

Your DVD's will soon arrive in your mailbox in a prepaid, pre-addressed custom envelope for easy return.

Renting Online Step-by-Step

1. Choose a rental company or club

1. Go to the website and register as a member

2. Choose the movies you want to see in the order you want to see them

3. Your order is process and packed

4. Your chosen DVD's are mailed first-class, usually within 24 hours

5. Watch the movies within 7 days or longer, depending on your rental company

6. When you are done, drop the movie in the mail using the supplied return case

7. Your next movie is automatically sent out when the returned movie is processed

DVD Renting Tips

Keep a long wish list
Keep at least 20 movies in your rental queue. If a movie is unavailable, the rental company will normally ship out the next one on your list.

By keeping a long list, you won't miss out on having a new movie sent out to you after you have returned one you've just watched.

Rent close to home
The closer the shipping warehouse to your location, the faster you will be able to receive and return movies.

Some clubs have multiple warehouses for shipping orders to accommodate members across the states.

If the shipping times are a factor for you, find a rental club close to home. Visit our company page to find one nearest you.

Develop a schedule
By developing a consistent schedule, you will get the most movies out of your monthly fee (if you sign up for this type of service).

For instance, make a plan to keep movies no longer than a week. If you know you will not be watching the movie again, put it in the mailbox as soon as possible.

You may be limited to how many movies you currently have out at one time, but most plans don't have a limit on how many you can actually rent during the month.

Alert! Mail theft is a rising concern.
If you live in a high traffic area and use a typical unsecured mail box, take note. Mail theft is a problem in some areas.

It's relatively easy for someone to drive by and take your mail in hopes of acquiring something of importance or value.

We recommend using a secure mailbox when returning DVD's to protect yourself from this kind of theft.
